Yiwu International Trade City — District by District Guide

Yiwu International Trade City (义乌国际商贸城) is the world’s largest small commodities wholesale market. It covers over 4 million square metres across five districts, with more than 75,000 booths and over 400,000 product varieties. If a product is sold wholesale anywhere in the world, it is almost certainly available somewhere in this market.

The market is open every day except major Chinese holidays. Standard hours are 9:00am–5:30pm. Most suppliers speak some English, and the majority accept USD payments, bank transfers, and Alibaba Trade Assurance. Our team operates across all five districts and can accompany you in person or source remotely on your behalf.

District 1 — Toys, Decorations, Flowers, Cosmetics

District 1 is one of the most visited areas of the market. Floor 1 is famous for toys and games — from basic plastic toys to RC vehicles and educational sets. Floor 2 specialises in artificial flowers, plants, and decorative items. Floor 3 carries personal care products, cosmetics, and hair accessories. Floor 4 focuses on holiday and seasonal decorations, including Christmas, Halloween, and Chinese New Year items. District 1 typically has the widest range of MOQ options — many suppliers here will negotiate for orders starting at 500 pieces.

District 2 — Jewelry, Electronics, Hardware, Sporting Goods

District 2 covers a diverse range of categories across four floors. Floor 1 is the jewelry and fashion accessories hub — rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and hair decorations. Floor 2 carries consumer electronics, phone accessories, USB gadgets, and LED lighting. Floor 3 is the hardware and electrical floor, with switches, cables, tools, and components. Floor 4 houses sporting goods, outdoor equipment, and fitness accessories. The electronics section in particular requires buyers to verify CE or FCC certifications before importing — our team can coordinate compliance checks.

District 3 — Clothing, Socks, Underwear, Textiles

District 3 is the apparel and textile district. It is often the best place to source socks and hosiery (Floor 1) — Yiwu is one of the world’s largest sock-producing regions. Floor 2 carries children’s and adult clothing, while Floor 3 has knitted goods, underwear, and fabric rolls. MOQ here tends to be higher than other districts — most apparel suppliers require 300–500 pieces per design, per colour. Custom branding is widely available from Floor 2 upwards.

District 4 — Bags, Luggage, Hats, Belts, Umbrellas

District 4 focuses on carry goods. Floor 1 is one of the largest wholesale bag markets in China — backpacks, handbags, tote bags, non-woven bags, and shopping bags from hundreds of suppliers. Floor 2 carries hard-shell and soft-shell luggage, travel accessories, and umbrellas. Floor 3 specialises in hats, caps, belts, wallets, and small leather goods. Custom logos and branding are standard here — most suppliers have in-house printing or embroidery capabilities.

District 5 — Auto Parts, Tools, Hardware, Industrial

District 5 is the most specialised of the five districts. Floor 1 covers automotive accessories and car care products. Floor 2 carries hand tools, power tool accessories, and workshop equipment. Floor 3 has outdoor and camping gear, industrial fasteners, and packaging materials. District 5 is less commonly visited by general merchandise buyers but is essential for buyers in specific industrial or hardware categories. Minimum orders here tend to be higher, and lead times are longer due to manufacturing complexity.

How to Source from Yiwu Without Visiting in Person

More than half of our clients never visit Yiwu. They send us a product list, we source across the relevant districts, photograph samples, negotiate prices, inspect quality, and ship directly to their warehouse or fulfillment centre. This remote buying model has been our primary service for over 20 years. Use our MOQ reference table to understand typical order sizes, then contact us to start sourcing.

Once you have product prices, use our CBM calculator to estimate your shipment volume, the freight estimator for shipping costs, the import duty lookup for customs charges, and the landed cost calculator for a complete all-in cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Yiwu Market's opening hours?

The market is open daily from 9:00am to 5:30pm, Monday through Saturday. Most booths also open on Sundays, though some suppliers close on Sunday afternoon. The market is closed during major Chinese holidays — Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) is the longest closure, typically 2–3 weeks in January or February.

Do I need a visa to visit Yiwu Market?

International buyers visiting China need a valid visa. Citizens of some countries can enter on a 72-hour or 144-hour visa-free transit, depending on the port of entry. Buyers from several countries — including Singapore, France, Germany, and others — can now enter China visa-free for up to 30 days. Check current requirements with the Chinese embassy in your country before travelling.

Can suppliers at Yiwu Market do custom branding?

Yes — most suppliers in Districts 1–4 offer OEM and ODM services including custom logos, private labels, custom packaging, and colour variations. Minimum orders for custom work are typically 500–2,000 pieces depending on the product and the customisation involved. Samples with custom branding usually take 7–15 days.

What currency is used at Yiwu Market?

Transactions are most commonly quoted and paid in USD or RMB (Chinese yuan). Most larger suppliers accept T/T bank transfer, Alibaba Trade Assurance, and occasionally PayPal for sample orders. Cash in RMB is accepted at most booths. Credit cards are not widely used in the wholesale market itself.

How do I get from Yiwu train station to the market?

The market is about 3km from Yiwu Railway Station. Taxi takes 10–15 minutes and costs around 15–20 RMB. Ride-hailing apps (DiDi) are widely available and slightly cheaper. The market is large enough that each district has its own entrance — tell your driver which district number you want to reach.

Is it safe to buy from Yiwu Market directly without an agent?

It is possible, but carries risk. Without language skills and market knowledge, buyers commonly overpay, accept substandard samples, or miss quality issues that only appear in production runs. An agent adds around 3–5% to your order cost but typically saves more than that through negotiation alone, while also providing quality control, consolidation, and shipping coordination.
